Pre-Golf Routine

QUESTION: What are some safe exercises prior to golfing activities?

ANSWER: ANSWER: Listed below are three phases for a 10-minute warm-up for golfing activities.

PHASE 1: Two minutes of stretching. This should occur before swinging a club. Would include neck rotation, shoulder stretching, trunk side bends, trunk rotations and toe touches.

PHASE 2: Three minutes involving going to the driving range with a pitching wedge, 5-iron and driver. Spend a minute with each club concentrating on tempo using a half swing for the wedge, three-quarters for the 5-iron, and a full swing for the driver.

PHASE 3: Two minutes of putting back and forth across a practice green, waiting to tee off for one minute. Spend 30 seconds making practice swings with the club you plan to use on the first tee, concentrating on tempo, low take-away balance and a full turn on the back swing. Then spend the last 30 seconds relaxing, visualizing your upcoming excellent drive.
